CS 180 Project 0: Becoming Friends with Your Camera
Selfie: The Wrong Way vs. The Right Way

In comparison, my first close-up selfie taken by my brother looks much worse than the second stepped-back picture.
I think the reason the second picture looks much better is that in the first one, the camera was too close to my face. Facial features like the nose were proportionally much closer to the camera than other features like the eyebrows and chin, which made my nose look much larger than it really is. In the second picture, everything appears more proportional, similar to how you would normally see me in daily life. Though my pimples are all around the place even though I wash my face several times a day :(
Architectural Perspective Compression

In comparison, the first picture I took by zooming in from a farther spot looks much better than the second picture I took by walking closer.
I think the reason is that when I zoom in while standing in the same place, all the objects in the scene keep the same relative sizes because my viewpoint hasn’t changed, which makes the picture look nicer. However, when I walk closer instead of zooming, my camera perspective changes. Nearby objects grow in relative size compared to distant ones, which makes the picture look less flattering.
The Dolly Zoom

It would probably look even cooler if I took more pictures, but since my house is small, this is the farthest I can get from Beibei and Tora (you might have seen them somewhere before)!
